Entertainment
Entertainment opportunities abound in Benton County. Oregon State University brings in world class music, theater and lectures. The Majestic Theater, in collaboration with Corvallis Community Theater provides many locally produced shows, as well as hosts many travelling productions. Several venues offer live music and entertainment, The city operates Osborn Aquatic Center.
Recreation
Benton County enjoys quality libraries, museums, art galleries, community theater, a variety of musical presentations and professional sporting events. The Parks Operations Division of Corvallis' Parks and Recreation Department cares for over 2000 acres of parks, play grounds, swimming pools, playing fields, trails, open spaces and beautification areas. The County has 1,419 acres of land for public enjoyment in county parklands, and nearby there are 5 National Forests. Within a 50-mile radius there are many beautiful campground and recreational sites, state, county and private parks. Along the 62-mile section of the Cascades' crest, from Mt. Hood south to the Mt. Washington Wilderness Area, there are more than 100 lakes, campsites, picnic areas, and historical markers.
World class salmon and steelhead fishing is available along the Oregon coast, about an hour away, and an hour to the east streams and lakes in the Cascades provide splendid trout fishing in the summer. Warm water game fishing is available in ponds and backwater areas along the Willamette River.
Many fine winter sports are available to skiers such as: Mt. Hood (2.5 hours); Mt. Bachelor (3 hours) and Hoodoo Ski Bowl (1.5 hours).
For the hunter there are migratory waterfowl, quail, pheasant, deer and elk in season.
